A group of suspected armed robbers have reportedly shot and killed a 30-year-old corps member in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State and dispossessed him of money and other valuables.
The incident was confirmed on Sunday by the Police Public Relations Officer at the Bayelsa Command, Mr. Asinim Butswat who said the preliminary investigation showed that the murder was cult related.

According to the Police report, the incident occurred on Saturday evening on Melford Okilo Road, INEC/Kpansia area of Yenagoa metropolis. The victim, Samuel Collins, was a graduate of Engineering from the University of Benin.
Mr. Butswat said a detailed investigation has been launched to unravel those behind the dastardly act and apprehend them.
It was disclosed by some eyewitnesses that Corper Collins was ambushed by the hoodlums at INEC Road junction on his way to the Nigerian Content Development and Management Board’s office on Isaac Boro Expressway, where he was undergoing training.
According to them, the young man was shot dead when he became defensive by dragging his phones and valuables with his assailants.
One of the eyewitnesses who spoke on condition of anonymity said the gunmen shot the corps member directly in the head and the gun bullets pierced his brain, resulting in massive loss of blood. The criminals left his lifeless body and fled the scene after stripping him of phone, money and other valuables.

The 30-year-old victim gave up the ghost after struggling with death for some minutes before help could come his way belatedly. Some of his friends described Collins as an easy-going and brilliant young man.
They confirmed that the Police had since removed his body and deposited it at the morgue of the Federal Medical Centre, Yenagoa. According to them, arrangements were being made by the state NYSC to take his remains to his hometown, Port Harcourt, Rivers State for burial.
